Mariah Carey will indeed be the newest face to hit the "American Idol" judges' table. It was confirmed by FOX network exec Kevin Reilly this morning at the TCA presentation. Deets inside...
"Idol" is making big moves. $17 $18 mill moves to be exact. The deal is final and Mariah is the newest judge to fill the vacancy of Jennifer Lopez & Steven Tyler. If the rumors of her waiting for a $17 mill payout are true, chick just got her wish.
She tweeted: "It's gonna be so much fun working on @AmericanIdol. As a singer-songwriter, I'm excited to help find and nurture new talent. LYM!"
At FOX's TCA presentation today, MiMi called in to tell the room thank you:
"Thank you! Yay! I'm so excited to be joining Idol," said Carey on the phone. "First of all, I wanted to be there today and I wish I could have been there today to tell you, but this just happened real quickly. I can't wait to get started in a couple months. Everybody have a great TCA and I will see you in January!"
In an official press release sent to Hollywood.com by Carey's rep, the musician adds:
"As a singer, songwriter and producer, it’s going to be fun and rewarding to help find new talent and give back with American Idol. I’m currently in the studio working on my new album and its first single, ‘Triumphant,’ which will be out early next month. I can’t wait to channel my creative energy as a part of this show which is a massive global phenomenon."
Haven't been an "Idol" fan since season 1. But I will indeed be tuning in. And I want a true dramatic ass diva arrival by Mrs. Carey Cannon--which includes being carried to the judges' table, on a bed, surrounded by butterflies. Let's get to it....
